conneXion 2016 Rome

conneXion 2016 took place in Rome on April 27-29.

conneXion 2016, the LS Retail and Hospitality conference and Expo, focused on innovative software solutions and services which will lead the road ahead, making it easier for retailers and restaurateurs worldwide to stay competitive and on top of trends. Over 400 retailers, hospitality operators and software providers met in Rome to share their experiences and best practices and plan creative strategies for the present and the future.

On April 27 and 28 participants had the chance to attend over 40 sessions led by international experts in retail and hospitality and software professionals. David-Butler-at-conneXion-Rome

The keynotes featured thought leaders in the IT, retail and hospitality industries, including:

  • David Butler, VP Innovation and Entrepreneurship at The Coca-Cola Company, who gave established companies tips on how to innovate by adopting a startup mentality;
  • Mari Smith, social media marketing guru and Queen of Facebook, who discussed proven best practices to increase revenue and customer base using Facebook;
  • Dadi Karason, CTO at LS Retail, who introduced Project Madeira, part of Microsoft’s mission to reinvent productivity;
  • Luis Cabrera, Senior Program Manager in the Azure Machine Learning Team at Microsoft, who showed the advances machine learning is bringing to recommendation engines, and gave us a glimpse of the future of retail.

Mari-Smith-at-conneXion-RomeOther panelists included IT experts sharing software tips and tricks as well as retailers and restaurateurs sharing issues, successes and lessons learned in their LS Retail software implementation journey.

Some of the retailers and hospitality operators who discussed implementation best practices were: Mauro Zanetti, PMO at Juventus; Silvio Vigato, Head of Brand, Licensing and Retail at Juventus; Kenza Rekik, IT Project Manager at The Chalhoub Group; Sigurdur Long, Head of IT at Olis; and Monica Lind, CIO at Humac A/S.

At the Expo guests got a chance to see, touch and feel the latest software solutions and services from big names in retail and hospitality technology. These included the two gold sponsors of conneXion Rome, Microsoft Dynamics and Hewlett-Packard (HP), as well as exhibitors Toshiba, AGR Dynamics, Cenium, Tinx-IT, Mergetool, eMazzanti, Epson, ATMO Select, Panasonic and TwoSell for Dynamics.

Awards dinner and celebration party

On April 27, LS Retail honored its top-performing partners during the Awards dinner in Villa Piccolomini. conneXion 2016 closed on April 28 with a celebration party at Villa Aurelia, where attendees networked and celebrated on the Roman hills accompanied by the live beats of Dire Straits Legacy.
